YOASOBI Releases New Song this August

This coming August 9, Rising Japanese music duo YOASOBI is going to release a new song entitled “Love Letter”.

The new song, described as “a magnificent one that vividly depicts love with various feelings and how music spreads” was created from the opportunity “Letter Song Project” as it joint hands with radio program “Nippon Post SUNDAY’S POST”.

Love Letter’s jacket cover visual was shown as well.

The “Letter Song Project” is a project in which YOASOBI is creating music from a listener’s letter and started back in August 2020 when the duo appeared on the same program. Last year, from August 30 until October 31, the project welcomed letters with the theme of “thank you” from their listeners all over the country. The entry that was chosen to be turned into a musical piece was from Hatsune, a sixth grader the time she sent her letter.

Participated in the music creation is the brass band club from Osaka Toin High School who also co-starred in the UNIQLO “UT” collaboration live “SING YOUR WORLD” which was held last month.

Vocaloid music producer Ayase and vocalist Ikura are the duo behind the successful YOASOBI which is currently known to be music geniuses that creates music from stories, like their debut single Yoru ni Kakeru” that was based from Mayo Hoshino’s Thanatos no Yuwaku. As of today, the duo has released 11 songs in total, 12 if we will include Love Letter in count. Some of their singles have English versions as well, which were praised by fans as the translations were really accurate and still carry the original context from the Japanese versions.

Following their well-known dark song “Kaibutsu” last year, which is the opening song for the second season of the anime BEASTARS, Love Letter seems to have the opposite vibes from it.
