If you are working on managing files and folders in several different drives or subfolders at the same time, or copying data between different directories, you will quickly reach the limits of Windows’ own file manager Windows Explorer or lose a lot of time switching between several open ones windows. It is more convenient to use one of the many third-party tools, which usually have a range of practical additional functions and, thanks to the multi-window view or tabs, enable more convenient and effective work.
With XYplorer an alternative to Windows Explorer is available. The file manager offers a whole range of additional functions that make working with files more convenient and effective. The two most striking features of XYplorer are the two-window view and the use of tabs, as you know them from browsers. The tabs save you from having to switch between several open program windows and make it easier to move them using drag & drop and to manage files and folders. For a better overview, the Mini Tree function is also available, with which only the paths that you have actually used can be displayed. This provides a better overview, especially with deeply nested subfolders. XYplorer allows the use of configurable color filters according to name, size, date, age or other attributes, all common image, audio, video and Office files can be displayed from the program using the preview function, and user-defined event actions and commands automate recurring tasks.
XYplorer does not have to be installed and can therefore also be used on a USB stick on other computers.
A notice: XYplorer can be tested for 30 days free of charge. The program is then available for purchase in two versions. The Standard License Pro currently costs US$ 39.95, is unlimited and valid for several computers and includes free updates for one year. The Lifetime License Pro offers free lifetime updates for currently US$ 79.95.
Alternatives: The freeware Q dir is a file manager with a four-window look and is a good alternative or extension to Windows Explorer.
