Unfortunately, a dark days has come. Xbox 360 servers are shutting down, meaning no more Halo 3 with the boys.
The game’s developer, 343 Industries, confirmed that January 13, today, that players can enjoy one last game of Halo online. By the way, this is the same for Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach, Halo 4, Halo Wars, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, and Halo: Spartan Assault. The games will still be fine on Xbox One and Series, but the nostalgia is gone with the 360 version.
Since the servers are turning off, dozens of fans took to social media to share beloved moments they had with the game.
“There will never be another game like halo 3. I know it may seem like just an old shooter, but its not. It was a community of people. One that I’m glad I got to be a part of,” one said on Twitter.
“I love Halo 3 and this community,” another said with a video.
Yes, the game is still playable offline with campaign, split-screen multiplayer, and LAN, but this is still a big moment for Xbox fans and people who grew up with the system. People loved Halo 3, and they wanted to give a proper send off to the online mode.
Now, with Halo’s servers shut down, players will have to move to another Halo game for matchmaking. The Master Chief Collection’s multiplayer is still playable, so people can have fun with that one. It’s no Halo 3, but it still provides the games maps and weapons that people love so much.
