So, if you’ve been keeping an eye out on the news, you’ll know by now that Johnny Depp has won the case against Amber Heard.
After six long and painful weeks of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s battle in court, the jury reached a verdict. Justice has finally served Johnny after years of false accusations from his ex-wife Amber Heard of domestic violence.
On Wednesday 1st June, the jury ultimately ruled in favour of Depp, while his ex-wife was found guilty on 3 counts of defamation and was fined for over $10 million. And in response to this verdict, an ex-Disney exec has weighed in on whether or not Depp could return to his role in Pirates of the Caribbean.
While Depp has had a long and illustrious career in Hollywood, his name is perhaps most widely recognized as captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The last we heard from Disney, there were two Pirates movies underway. Neither of which, however, involved Depp.
But now that the 58-year-old actor has had his arms in the air this Wednesday, could he possibly return to play the iconic character? People recently spoke to an anonymous former Disney boss, who responded positively to this possibility:
“I absolutely believe post-verdict that Pirates is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Capt. Jack is back on board. There is just too much potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture.”
The chances we’ll see Depp return as Jack Sparrow seems to be a very high chance. But what does this mean for the other movies he’s doing, such as Fantastic beast?
Will Warner Bros find a way to bring back Depp for his other roles?
The question remains unanswered. Needless to say, Johnny winning in the courtroom this past Wednesday has really given him his life back.
