WhatsApp Working on A New Feature called “Reactions”

WhatsApp is known to be working on a new feature called Reactions. As the name suggests, this feature allows users to respond in a reactive format to messages sent by others. WABetaInfo leaked last August about a new way to respond to WhatsApp messages, called Reactions. This feature works similarly to that of Facebook. In response to a message sent by WhatsApp, you can select multiple reactions, including thumbs up, hearts, smiles, surprises, cries, and two-handed emojis.

In addition to testing the Reactions function, WhatsApp is said to be preparing a Reactions notification function. This feature is useful for sending notifications when a sent message triggers a reaction from another user. This Reactions notification option was initially only available in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS. However, the latest news tells us that WhatsApp is preparing the same for Android devices.

This is evidenced by the latest WABetaInfo report. The responsive notifications feature was introduced in WhatsApp Android Beta Update 2.21.24.8. When this feature is enabled, users can be notified of all reactions to messages sent by users in both private and group chats. Unfortunately, this feature was only tested in the beta version of WhatsApp. It is not yet known when this feature will be available to general users. For example, you can respond to messages and images in chat rooms on Facebook and Instagram Stories. To respond, users simply press and hold the chat they want to respond to. A series of emoticons will appear after.
