The first trailer for Lady Gaga’s upcoming movie House of Gucci has been released.
The film, directed by Ridley Scott, tells the story of Maurizio Gucci’s (Driver) murder and the subsequent fall of the Gucci fashion dynasty. Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio’s ex-wife, was prosecuted and convicted of plotting his murder after he left her for a younger woman. Gaga plays her. She was released in 2016 after serving 18 years in jail and earning the nickname “Black Widow.”
“I don’t consider of myself to be a particularly ethical person,” Gaga as Patrizia remarks, “but I am fair.” Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” serves as the trailer’s soundtrack. The drama leading up to the murder included Gucci fashion displays, the couple’s wedding, and crazy evenings at the disco.
Leto, who plays Paulo Gucci, tells Driver about Patrizia, “You picked a real firecracker.”
“House of Gucci,” which was shot in Europe, is Gaga’s first film since “A Star Is Born,” for which she received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations.
Patrizia Gucci, Guccio Gucci’s great-granddaughter, told the Associated Press in April that she is concerned about the film “going beyond the headline-grabbing true-crime story and pries into the private lives of the Guccio Gucci heirs.”
The film will ultimately examine what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control, spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, retribution, and murder.
