Valve Delays Steam Deck

It’s crazy how Steam now has a handheld console, huh? Well, it just got delayed.

If you are excited about the new Steam Deck, you’ll have to hold that excitement a little longer because it got delayed to February 2022. An official Steam blog post announced the delay.

“We’re sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates,” reads the post.

They don’t specify the parts, but the shortage has apparently influenced many major hardware manufacturers.

“Steam Deck will start shipping to customers February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly. Reservation date estimates will be updated shortly after this announcement,” continues the blog post.

Even though the date has changed, it seems the Steam Deck will still release in the United States, Canada, European Union, and the United Kingdom. Valve will inform of other locations later.
