Twitter Bans Sharing Personal Photos And Videos Without Consent

Just a day after Twitter changed its CEO, Twitter imposed a new policy that bans the sharing of personal photos and videos without consent. However, the policy is only imposed for those who are not public figures. Under the new rules, those who had been included in photos and videos posted on Twitter can ask Twitter to take down the post.

Quoting from The Straits Times, the company stated, “We will always try to assess the context in which the content is shared, in such cases, we may allow the images or videos to remain on the service,”

Twitter already banned sharing private information, such as someone’s phone number or address. Twitter stated that there are growing concerns about the use of content to harass, intimidate, and reveal the identities of individuals.

The change came the day after Jack Dorsey, co-founder, and CEO of Twitter stepped down and handed the CEO position to Parag Agarwal, the company’s executive.
