Former President Donald.J.Trump left office on January.20th after a series of horrendous events, culminated in the riots at the U.S. Capitol on  Jan.6. Many believed that Trump was personally responsible for inciting the riot; Twitter, Facebook at the time issued a ban on Trump’s social media.

 

On January 8th, Twitter went a step further, permanently suspending the @realDonaldTrump account due to further risks from the Tweets.

Earlier in May this year, Trump’s team released a new website called The Office of Donald J.Trump, named 45office.com. The website was closed however in just 29 days, according to the statement by his aide Jason Miller. Miller stated the platform caused a lot of trouble due to negative news, and the platform was not mature enough to be a social media company.

Just a couple of months earlier, Trump entered into a lawsuit against Big Tech companies such as Twitter, Google, and Facebook for violating freedom of speech and argued that he should be reinstated on social media.

 

On October 20th, Liz Harrington, Trump’s spoken person issued a press release in which Trump Media & Technology Group and Digital World Acquisition Corp have entered into a merger agreement that put the Trump Media & Technology Group in charge, and became a publicly listed company.

 

Speaking about the intention of launching this app, Trump complained about the mainstream media and America’s Big Tech being liberal-oriented while censoring conservative voices.

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump spoke during his statement on Wednesday this week.

 

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” he wrote. “This is unacceptable.”
