TikTok’s Popularity is Growing Year by Year

TikTok’s reputation is predicted to be increasingly popular at the global level. According to research firm Insider Intelligence, TikTok is predicted to become the third-largest social media network in the world.

TikTok will be bigger than Twitter and will overshadow Facebook and Instagram, in terms of the number of active users. In its report, Insider Intelligence predicts that TikTok will have 755 million active users by 2022.

This figure was achieved based on the growth of TikTok users in 2020 which reached 59.8 percent and 40.8 percent in 2021. In the meantime, Facebook is predicted to top the list with 2.1 billion monthly active users by 2022.

It was noted that the number of active Facebook users grew by 6 percent from year to year. Just below Facebook, Instagram is said to have a total of 1.28 billion active users in the next year.

While in the bottom two positions there is Snapchat with a prediction of 464 million active users, while Twitter with 345.3 million active users in 2022.

TikTok’s popularity has skyrocketed in recent years. The Sensor Tower research institute noted that TikTok has managed to score 2 billion downloads on the Google Play Store and App Store during the first quarter of 2020.

Meanwhile, in July 2021, Sensor Tower named TikTok and Douyin, the names of similar applications in China, as the first non-Facebook applications to reach 3 billion downloads globally on the Google Play Store and App Store.

In a separate report, mobile data and analytics company App Annie reported that it saw a 325 percent growth in 2020.

As a result of this growth, Insider Intelligence estimates that the share of TikTok users will also increase by more than 20 percent in the first quarter of 2024.
