PT Kreta Indo Artha (KIA) as a subsidiary under the auspices of the Indomobil Group said it was ready to present a surprise to the domestic market this year. One of them is introducing the latest 7-seater family multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), namely the KIA Carens this weekend.
“We introduce Carens in Indonesia to present the latest segment and benchmark for a modern seven-passenger family MPV,” said PT KIA President Director Andrew Nasuri in a statement.
Indeed, in the week related to new vehicles, the introduction stage is only. So the company has not yet opened an official order and price for the domestic market. However, Carens which is present in Indonesia will certainly bring two engine options, namely the Smartstream 1.4 T-GDI with gasoline and 1.5 CRDi VGT with diesel fuel.

Furthermore, the Smartstream engine features a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine in Carens capable of producing 140 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 242 Nm from 1,500 rpm to 3,200 rpm.
This engine is paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission that distributes power to the front wheels. While on the CRDi engine, the 1.5-liter diesel engine is also equipped with a turbocharger that is capable of producing a maximum power of 115 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 250 Nm at 1,500 – 2,750 rpm.
The engine gets a choice of a 6-speed automatic transmission which distributes power to the front wheels.
