The Witcher Second Season Placed No.1 of Netflix’s Popular Show

Geralt’s adventure caught millions of attention on its second season.

Premieres last weekend on December 17th, The Witcher Season 2 placed number one in popular shows chart on Netflix. So far, The Witcher 2nd Season has reached more than 142 million hours viewed, with the first season following in second place with 49 million views since last week globally.

Its second season follows the journey of Geralt of Rivia with Ciri under his protection to find out the mysterious power within her. They visit Geralt’s childhood home of Kaer Morhen while anticipating another threat towards them. The Witcher features Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, Freya Allan as Ciri, the princess of Cintra. And it starred Anya Chalotra, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Anna Schaffer, Eamon Farren, Royce Pierreson, and Mimi Ndiwen.

The Witcher is based on Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series published in 1992. In 2007, the story was adapted to a role-playing video game. Netflix produced The Witcher television series in 2019, which made The Witcher the most popular series until now, proven by placing number one on popular shows chart. There will be a third season of the series with Henry Cavill committed to staying as Geralt until the end. Aside from the original series, there is also an animated spinoff series of The Witcher, which premiered this summer with the title The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Following the success of the fantasy-themed series HBO’s Game of Thrones, the development of fantasy-themed series became a favorite genre that triggers many other fantasy series productions like Amazon’s The Wheel of Time and Lord of The Rings series. And, The Witcher has become one of the popular fantasy series thus far.
