The Weeknd has released a sneak peek of a new song on Monday, (August 2) and teased the imminent arrival of his new era, after retiring his red suit-wearing ‘After Hours’ alter ego for his critically praised 2020 album.
After the days of speculation, the song is thought to be the title track of his next album, which some speculate would be titled “The Dawn Is Coming”.
The 31-year old Canadian singer announced the start of his new era on Twitter with a snippet of a new song after a series of mysterious postings relating to countdowns and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, “anyways ima feed ya’ll soon. pbj for your ears”, he wrote.
He then followed up with a series of tweets explaining how he got to the point of releasing music, “can’t believe we’re here. feels like yesterday we were there… but now… we’re here. not there” “the countdown has begun… in my head.”
“say your final goodbyes…”, he added.
Across social media sites, he changed his profile image, and he also shared a new Instagram post.
“FUCK IT, IT STARTS TONIGHT.” he teased before the song’s release.

In just a few hours, the footage, which is nearly two-minute teaser of new music, had surpassed a million views.

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande collaborated on a new remix of his “After Hours” hit “Save Your Tears” in April. He also recently performed alongside Young Thug on Belly’s new single “Better Believe” and on Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” tune “You Right.”
