The Most Anticipated Upcoming Movies in December 2021

It’s already December! Some moviegoers must have waited for their favorite film to come out in December. This month of the holiday will be full of exciting movies, from superheroes to comedy. These are the most anticipated movies which are already trending before their release.

 

Don’t Look Up

This star-studded movie will hit the theaters on December 10th and will be available on Netflix on December 24th, just before Christmas. The film comedy-sci-fi by Adam McKay follows Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), a student pursuing higher education in astronomy, and her professor, Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) doing a media tour after discovering a Mount Everest sized comet orbiting within the solar system. They have six months to gain the public’s attention before the impact. Don’t Look Up also features Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, and Tyler Perry.

 

West Side Story

Together with Don’t Look Up, West Side Story coming to the theaters on December 10th. This musical drama movie is based on the homonymous Broadway musical by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim. Directed by Steven Spielberg, West Side Story brings the story of Maria (Rachel Zegler) who falls for Tony (Ansel Elgort), set in 50s New York City. They come from very different ethnic backgrounds and their relationship triggers a conflict between rival street gangs the Jets and the Sharks. Also featuring Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Rita Moreno, Corey Stoll, and Brian d’Arcy James.

 

Spider-Man: No Way Home

The most awaited Spidey sequel, also the concluding film of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU will be coming to greet you on December 17th in the cinema. Peter Parker needs to cover his identity after being exposed by Mysterio in the previous film. He asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to make everybody forget that he is Spider-Man. Unfortunately, the spell goes wrong and opens the gate to the multiverse where the villains from other Spider-Man verses come to the MCU. This Spider-Man solo movie also features Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Wong, and Jon Favreau. On the villain’s side there will be Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Rhys Ifans as Lizard, Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn, and Thomas Haden Church as Sandman.

 

The Matrix Resurrections

Featuring Keanu Reeves, this fourth installment in The Matrix film series will arrive in the cinema on December 22nd. Set 20 years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions and reunites viewers with Neo (Keanu Reeves) who now lives an ordinary life as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco, where his therapist prescribes him blue pills and neither he nor Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) recognize each other. However, Morpheus (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) offers him the red pill and reopens his mind to the world of The Matrix. Directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections will also stream on HBO Max on the same date.
