After years and years of anticipation, fans are now less than a year away from the official release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Today, the film returns to the motley space crew for one more adventure as they face Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary and newcomer Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter.
This past July, Marvel Studios debuted the first video from the movie at San Diego Comic-Con, including numerous interesting hints. Those in attendance saw Gamora’s new Ravager status, a young Rocket Raccoon, and an entirely new version of Groot in the short film.
At this moment, the best guess is that the trailer will be released alongside the Holiday Special when it arrives on Disney+. It might be incorporated as a post-credits scene, or it could be released independently online during the holiday season.
While no release date has been set for the Holiday Special, many expect it to arrive towards the end of November (November 23rd, 25th, or 30th appear most plausible) or the beginning of December (possibly December 2nd or 7th).
Another option is that James Gunn does not know the precise day and hour for the trailer’s release but rather a window of time when people will see it. Specific releases like that may change pretty often, sometimes at the last minute, so even if he does have a day, it could be inaccurate.
In any case, fans would most certainly kill to know when the expected time period is. After seeing the footage revealed at SDCC 2022, many fans were even more eager to watch Gunn’s final chapter.
The Holiday Special will be available on Disney+ later this year, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in theaters on May 5, 2023.
