So what is The Callisto Protocol?

This horror-survival game is created by Glen Schofield, who also created the series Dead Space back in 2008. The Callisto Protocol is developed by Striking Distance Studios and Skybound Entertainment, published by Krafton, and is built using the Unreal Engine. This game is scheduled to release in 2022 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and also Xbox Series X/S.

PUBG is not a game famous for its story. There is little to no lore regarding what you’re doing in that battle royale scenario. However, in recent years, the developers seem to be turning their experience of the game world and The Callisto Protocol into an expanded universe that seeks to expand their knowledge into the mainstream.

The game doesn’t look like the Dead Space franchise game. However, this game might share a similar experience to Dead Space, while tying into the popular battle-royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

“The funny thing is, we came up with this story when I met people from PUBG for the first time and started about (The Callisto Protocol) and building a studio. I dedicate this game to them, then what we do is build a story that fits the PUBG storyline”, said Schofield to IGN.

Schofield explained that The Callisto Protocol will be a game that will revive the classic horror genre, similar to Dead Space. He hopes that Visceral Games will relive the same sensations while still alive and make this new game a worthy successor.
