TeamViewer – PC WORLD

The remote maintenance software TeamViewer generates an ID and a password when it is started, which must be sent to the partner by telephone or email. After entering the data you have access to the respective computer. According to the provider, access also works through firewalls and via VPN connections. If no direct connection between the computers is possible, the data runs via a TeamViewer router. According to the provider, all data traffic is encrypted with TeamViewer via private/public key exchange and is therefore secure.

In this way, teams can, for example, view or control each other’s desktops. In addition, it would be possible to demonstrate special software or presentations to customers via TeamViewer. TeamViewer can also be installed as a system service. The tool then runs in the background and enables access to the computer – for example when you are away from home.

With the integrated instant messenger, you can see at any time whether colleagues or partners are currently available. With a further mouse click you establish a connection.

TeamViewer is ideal for solving computer problems (remote maintenance) for less experienced users, as the installation and commissioning is very simple and is in German. After the two computers have been linked and released with a click, the expert can take over control of the other PC, run programs, make settings and transfer data in both directions. The screen of the controlled PC is transferred to your own with reduced resolution and color bandwidth – this still works quite well with lower bandwidths such as DSL Light.

TeamViewer – Security

The makers of TeamViewer have also paid attention to security. All connections run over secure data channels with 1024-bit RSA key exchange and 256-bit AES session encoding.

Unrestricted use of TeamViewer

In earlier versions of TeamViewer, the use of the software was limited to 30 minutes per session, this restriction no longer applies in the new version. Private users can use the Teamviewer download without restrictions and free of charge.
