Team Spirit Crowned the New Dota 2 Champion

This is it! The TI10 Champion has finally been crowned. Team Spirit defeated the almost-invincible PSG.LGD in a very heated set 3-2 to take home the coveted Aegis of Champions and bring back a whopping US$18,208,300.

TI10 Grand Finals Recap

Lower Bracket Finals

We started off the day with the Lower Bracket Finals to determine who gets to fight in the Grand Finals against PSG.LGD, and who will go home nabbing 3rd place in the tournament.

Both teams were as determined as ever, and did not want to go down without a fight. With Team Secret already losing to PSG.LGD in the Upper Bracket, this was their last chance at the main stage. However, the glory of being the champion slipped away from Team Secret’s hands as Team Spirit knocked them down to 3rd place in a 2-1 win.

All-Star Finals

Taking a break between our main matches of the day, we got to see Team Thunderhide, who won the last all-star match, going against Team Golem. Team Golem consisted of Wagamama, Sheepsticked, Blitz, Xcalibur and Merlini, all ex-Dota 2 players/talents.

After a very entertaining battle, Team Golem came out on top. It looked like Team Thunderhide had it at first, but Team Golem pulled through at the last minute with only 4 heroes left.

TI10 Grand Finals

Now, the game we are all waiting for, Team Spirit vs PSG.LGD. Both are very strong teams, with PSG.LGD being the favorite of the tournament.

Game 1 was intense. Team Spirit knew exactly how to deal with PSG.LGD. The game was over at around 40 minutes, with Yatoro’s Naga Siren decimating PSG.LGD. In Game 2 was no different. This time, it was Collapse’s Magnus that stole the show. PSG.LGD did not have any space to breathe. Team Spirit showed exactly why they deserved to be in the grand finals.

However, Game 3 and Game 4 were different stories altogether. It seemed that PSG.LGD figured out how to counter the Magnus, and PSG.LGD took the lead in kills at around 20 minutes in Game 3. The game only snowballed from there, in PSG.LGD’s favor. In Game 4, PSG.LGD took the Magnus for themselves, and completely wiped Team Spirit from the start.

The score is now 2-2. Game 5 being the deciding factor of who gets crowned champion. PSG.LGD let Team Spirit picked their Magnus once again, confident in their ability to counter it with a Lycan + Tiny combo. That eventually led to their defeat, with Yatoro’s Terrorblade and Collapse’s Magnus completely overpowering them. Team Spirit took Game 5, being crowned the champion of TI10.
