After several months of talking about season 2, the second season of Squid Game is officially confirmed by Netflix. The thriller drama series became a trend around the world and inspired many content creators. The creator of Squid Game Hwang Dong-Hyuk unveils that he needs ten years to make this story become a big hit.

Firstly released on Netflix on September 17th, 2021, the series got mass views in the first 28 days. Squid Game had 1.65 billion views in less than a month and quickly placed number one on the popular show chart. From that moment, South Koreans keep producing more thriller series that would be a hit one day.

Since its release, Squid Game has managed to break some records. Firstly, Squid Game became the most-viewed show on Netflix. Secondly, this hit series became the first Korean series and the first non-English-language to win Gotham Awards 2021. Squid Game won the Breakthrough Series – Over 40 Minutes category. The main cast Lee Jung-Jae was nominated for the Outstanding Performance in a New Series. Both the series and the cast were honored with nominations of big awards such as the Screen Actors Guild Awards and Golden Globe.

Bringing the nostalgic Korean children’s traditional game, Squid Game follows 456 players who seize the money prize in total 45,6 billion won. The players need to be the last man standing to win the prize. Seong Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-Jae) has to through a deadly children’s game with life at stake.

Hwang Dong-Hyuk’s Squid Game also stars Park Hae-Soo, HoYeon Jung, Anupam Tripathi, Kim Joo-Ryeong, Heo Sung-Tae, and O Yeong-Su.
