Spider-Man: No Way Home (Spoiler Free Review)

Finally, the long-awaited Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third installment to the Spider-Man movies by Tom Holland, is released. It premiered in Indonesia on the 15th of December 2021, and tickets were sold out within a couple of hours, even crashing Tix.id make them issue refunds. There is a lot of buzz online, even receiving a score of 95% by 119 reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes. So was it as good as everyone hoped it would be?

YES! Spider-Man: No Way Home was a fantastic addition to the MCU. The story picks up from the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, so if you haven’t watched any of the recent Marvel releases like Eternals or Venom, the movie still will make perfect sense. As Peter Parker was still in high school in the MCU, it was great to see a coming-of-age story interwoven into this superhero action movie how he’s applying to college, getting rejected, and figuring out how his future as Spider-Man would also be. From the trailer and poster, we have seen Doc Oct and the Green Goblin makes an appearance. They play a big part in this story that made sense. Having these characters around and some others, as much as they were fan service, also made a lot of sense.

It was exciting to see all these characters again that everyone in the theater cheered and clapped! The pacing of the movie is also great because it helped put the message of this film in the spotlight, which of course, is Great Power Comes Great Responsibilities. The special effects and fighting scenes were flawless; they kept you at the edge of your seat. There were also a lot of heartfelt moments, which I think is to prepare Peter and the audience for growth and maturity. In an interview, Joe Russo, the director for Avengers: Endgame, said that Spider-Man has taken over the mantle from Tony Stark as the new soul of the MCU; and I agree. This movie will have you laughing, crying, and cheering for everyone and even get you feeling nostalgic.

So once the movie premieres, get that movie ticket! It will be worth it! Of course, keep your masks on in the movie theater and follow the Covid-19 safety protocols. Everyone involved in the movie did great, and I hope you would all enjoy the movie as much as I did!
