Slice of life anime are perfect for this since they provide a peaceful atmosphere that may both revitalize your spirit and warm your heart. Slice of life anime are always my go to whenever I finished a one intense anime episode to forget even just for a bit. So here’s some slice of life anime recommendation ticket to get you going on your getaway trip.
- Azumanga Daioh
Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy, School
This anime may be old, but it is still gold for me. Years back, when my brothers and sisters still didn’t know about the internet world, we used to watch anime on television and in Tagalog dub on TV5 and GMA (Philippine TV Networks). The Tagalog dub is actually very good and expressive, so I don’t have a problem with that and I enjoy every episode of the anime to heart. This anime is actually the first ever anime I’ve taken a like to, along with Lucky Star, Toradora!, and Atashin’chi. Some episodes are relaxing and some can be hilarious. Some episodes are mysterious though. The reason why I love this anime is because it depicts the everyday life of a high school girl that can be relatable in some cases.
Here’s a short synopsis from Fandom;
Azumanga Daioh shows a typical day at an unnamed Japanese high school. The anime is set in Tokyo and chronicles the ups and downs of six girls: Sakaki, Chiyo, Osaka, Yomi, Tomo and Kagura. The story spans three years of school examinations, cultural festivals, and sports activities, as well as after-school life in the neighboring shopping area and at Chiyo’s nice big house, as well as holidays spent at Chiyo’s beach house and at Magical Land, a theme park.
This anime is very slice of life-ish.
- Lucky✩Star
Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy, Parody, School
As I mentioned, Lucky✩Star is one of my favorite Slice of Life Anime. Just like Azumanga Daioh, this anime depicts the simple lives of high school girls, their lives at their homes and some realities you can encounter in school and life. The characters are cute and their attitudes differ. What I love about this anime is the relaxing feeling I get when I am watching it.
Synopsis from MAL;
Lucky✩Star tells the story of several girls who attend Ryoo, a Japanese high school with a very loose sense of humor. Lucky✩Star covers the day-to-day lives of four adorable high school girls: Konata Izumi, the indolent otaku; the Hiiragi twins, Tsukasa and Kagami; and the clever and well-mannered Miyuki Takara.
They deepen their quirky and colorful relationship as they go about their lives at school and beyond, offering funny observations about the world around them.
- Atashin’chi
Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy
This anime is not only a slice of life anime, but it is also hilarious in every way. Particularly the mother, who is one of the main characters. This anime portrays a family’s daily routine and how they live their lives. If you’ve seen the anime, you’ll relate to some of the scenes.
Synopsis from MAL;
Outlandish escapades of a seemingly regular family consisting of a housewife, her husband, and their two children, Yuusuke and Mikan. Wacky humour about this strange family’s day-to-day lives.
- Nichijou
Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy, School, Shounen
Super Ultra Wonderful Great Delicious want to watch a slice of life anime series? Then try this anime. This anime series is not only a slice of life in nature, but also a bit comedic in some episodes. It may also give you that weird feeling, but it is worth watching.
Synopsis from MAL;
Nichijou is largely concerned with the everyday shenanigans of a group of childhood friends—high school students Mio Naganohara, Yuuko Aioi, and Mai Minakami—whose tales gradually cross with the young prodigy Hakase Shinonome, her robot caregiver Nano, and their talking cat Sakamoto. Every day, the lives of these six and others around them experience both the soothes of regular existence and the craziness. Walking to school, being bitten by a talking crow, hanging out with pals, and witnessing the principal suplex a deer are all part of the unusual daily lives of residents in Nichijou.
- Himouto! Umaru-chan
Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy, School, Seinen
Just by the characters you will fall in-love with this anime especially when you got captivated with Umaru’s charm. I mean her chibi version’s charm. Cuteness overload and a typical everyday life of an otaku. A girl who loves chips and cola the most. Try to watch this and every episodes will get you full.
Synopsis from MAL;
People are not always what they seem to be, as is the case with Umaru Doma, the ideal high school girl—until she comes home! The real fun comes when the front door is shut. When she puts on her hamster hoodie, she turns from a polished, overachieving student to a slacker, junk food-eating otaku, leaving all chores to her responsible elder brother Taihei.
Himouto! Umaru-chan is a charming story that follows Umaru and Taihei’s everyday adventures as they take care of—and put up with—each other to the best of their abilities, as well as the unbreakable relationships between friends and siblings.
