Taking care of your skin is incredibly important, especially as we get older! Nowadays, it seems as though everybody has hour-long skincare routines that just keep getting longer. Tiktok is full of women using hundreds of different oils and serums, but are they all necessary?
After years of different skincare routines, using popular products, and lots of different ingredients, I’ve found the skincare routine that works perfectly for me.
Skincare routines work differently for everyone depending on what skin type you have. Personally, I have normal skin that can get slightly oily and I have never struggled with acne. Before buying these products have a look at the ingredients and their aims to see if they’re designed for your skin type!
Lush Dark Angels Charcoal Cleanser
To wash my face, I find charcoal cleansers work amazingly. They’re good for clearing pores and reducing blackheads, and I find my face is always brighter after using charcoal cleansers. My favorite is the Lush Dark Angels cleanser, which is a paste and is designed to be mixed with water. It’s vegan and uses mostly natural ingredients rather than chemicals! When cleansing my face, I rub in circular motions for one minute before washing off.
Lush Breath Of Fresh Air Toner
Toner is applied after cleanser and is used for brightening skin, hydrating, and removing excess dirt from the skin. The Breath Of Fresh Air toner from Lush is filled with minerals, rose, and natural oils to reduce redness and soothe the skin. I spray it over my face as a mist, but it can be applied with a cotton pad.
The Ordinary Niacinimide
The Ordinary’s Niacinimide is a serum with zinc and vitamin B3. It’s used for reducing the appearance of blemishes and for brightening the skin. It’s full of gentle ingredients and can be used twice a day. Some of The Ordinary’s products didn’t work well for me, but the niacinamide cleared up my skin.
The Ordinary Peeling Solution
The Ordinary AHA 30% & BHA 2% Peeling Solution is incredible! It’s used for removing dead skin, clearing congested pores, and fighting blemishes. It’s applied once or twice a week for 10-15 minutes. This product is popular and for great reason. I find it far more effective than daily exfoliating or using a facial scrub.
Slugging/Moisturising
When moisturizing, slugging is the best way for softer, brighter skin! Slugging involves using an occlusive moisturiser and applying a thick layer before you sleep. My favorite is the Beauty Bay Thirst Class Rich Moisturiser With Oatmeal. It smells sweet and by the morning your face is smooth and bright. I always wash it off in the morning to remove residue and use a lighter normal moisturizer, such as the Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream.
