Shaquille O’Neal Donated PS5s And Nintendo Switches To Unprivileged Kids

 

Adding onto his many charitable acts, Shaquille O’Neal gifted 1,000 PS5s and Nintendo Switches to kids for Christmas.

 

Many kids were wishing for the new game consoles, and Santa O’Neal granted their wishes. The retired basketball star appeared on Gary Vaynerchuk’s podcast, The GaryVee Audio Experience, and talked about helping the community.

 

As a kid, Shaq’s parents taught him the value of helping others in need. He also noted how many children don’t receive presents on Christmas before revealing his donation.

 

“When I was with Toys ‘R Us, there was an alarming stat: 15 to 20 million kids wake up on Christmas Day and not receive one gift,” Shaq stated. “I felt that one time. I don’t ever want a kid to feel like that. So, as long as I’m on this Earth, I’m always trying to do what I can to make sure kids get good toys.”

 

Shaq believes in this cause so much that he’s running a giveaway event called Shaq-A-Claus for years.

 

After speaking of his cause, Shaq spoke on how he got so many consoles. The star worked his magic to get PS5s even though they’re lacking in quantity.

 

“I call, you know, my friend from Nintendo Switch, got about 1,000 Switches sitting there, got about 1,000 PS5s. So, you know, yesterday, at this little elementary school in McDonough, Georgia, kids were crying, kids were happy, and that’s what it’s all about.”

 

Unfortunately, people feel like they need to capitalize on others’ good deeds. Since his donation, many resellers and scalpers have been taking advantage of consumers with PS5s. They’ve been trying to resell them at crazy high rates. Luckily, U.S. politicians proposed a bill to prevent scalping bots from purchasing PS5s and Xbox Series Xs.
