Redmi teases a Snapdragon 870 on its K40 gaming line

Xiaomi plans to launch a successor for their K40 gaming series that was release last April 30, 2021. This is despite the announcement of launching the K50 series in China. The next smartphone to be launched under the series is said to be the K40G. The Chinese tech giant partnered with Weibo to announce their launch. Let’s take a look at the K40G, its specifications and everything we know so far.

The company is yet to announce a specific date for the launch of the K40G. But what we know is that it will have a chipset change. The K40G will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC compared to its predecessor, the K40 Gaming Edition, that packs a Dimensity 1200. The Qualcomm Snapdragon series is one of the most prominent chipset in the gaming phone industry and this turn will make the K40G instantly appealing for the target market.

The K40G could be launch as an alternative for the previous K40 Gaming Edition considering the poor response from the market and all the issues with its aesthetic. Many have said that Xiaomi did a bad job at designing the phone and commented that the camera set-up is “awful”.

Considering that all of the phones released under the K40 series featured a 6.67-inch AMOLED 120Hz display, it is safe to say that the K40G may have the same specifications. It could also bag a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast-charging. A tripple-camera set-up is also expected with at least 48MP to 64MP. Xiaomi is expected to confirm more details about the launch soon.
