Red Velvet Drops ‘Queendom’ MV Teaser

Red Velvet, a prominent South Korean girl group, has revealed individual and group teaser images from their new album, “Queendom,” which is set to be released this month.

The group will release ‘Queendom’ on August 16 at 6 p.m. KST, marking the band’s first comeback in almost a year and a half.

With an intriguing pink banner featuring the group’s trademark, Red Velvet officially revealed their summer comeback album. The girls also revealed unique mood samplers alongside the comeback schedule for their album as the group recently marked their debut anniversary.

SM Entertainment developed and handles the South Korean girl group. They made their debut with the single “Happiness” on August 1, 2014, with the four-member line-up of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy. Following the release of their debut mini album, Ice Cream Cake, in March 2015, a fifth member, Yeri, joined the group.

Red Velvet’s music fits their name: their largely pop “red” side dabbles in electronic, funk, and hip hop on occasion, while their “velvet” side concentrates on ’90s-influenced R&B with elements of ballad and jazz and have been critical acclaim that has poured in for their genre flexibility and melodies.

The Golden Disc New Artist Award, the Mnet Asian Music Award for Best Female Group, the Korean Music Award for Best Pop Song, and the Asia Artist Award for Song of the Year have all been awarded to Red Velvet and even Forbes Korea Power Celebrity has acknowledged their enormous domestic impact.
