Random ‘One Piece’ Facts You Should Know!


Chapter 1050 of the One Piece manga was just released, which reminds us that we’re nearing the end of the Wano arc. Up until now, this means that One Piece has officially mustered over a total of 1000 chapters and 1000 anime episodes respectively.


Catching up to over 1000 episodes and manga chapters takes a lot of time and effort to do – and with that many chapters and episodes, there are bound to be facts that you may not even know until now!

1. One Piece was inspired by Dragon Ball Z

Creators often have muses they take inspiration from, and Oda’s muse for One Piece was also the iconic Dragon Ball Z by Akira Toriyama.


2. The original Straw Hats had different designs 

Initially, Oda had a different version of some of the Straw Hats members. For instance, Nami was originally designed to have a cyborg’s arm and Sanji was supposed to have black hair and a more innocent look.


3. One Piece holds one of the Guinness Book of World Records

One Piece being one of the most successful and long-running anime, One Piece has won one of the records for selling around 321 million manga copies.


4. One Piece has a special crossover with Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma

Back in 2018, this crossover gave birth to the special spin-off named Shokugeki no Sanj, which features Sanji’s love of cooking and is drawn in Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma’s art style.


5. Before One Piece, Oda wrote two one-shots

Before the creation of One Piece, Oda had written two one-shot stories set in a similar world – titled Romance Dawn.
