As part of the celebrations for her Platinum Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II surprised royal fans last night when she featured in a special one-off segment with Paddington Bear.
It was shown as part of the ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ event that was televised throughout Britain and showcased the best of British talent, from stand-up comedians to legendary singers. Even recent Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder performed his hit song!
There was also a stunning laser and light show that lit up Buckingham Palace and wowed the audience, which included key members of the Royal Family such as Prince Charles and Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.
Though the Queen was not physically present at the event due to her ongoing mobility issues, she made sure that she remained the centerpiece of the night with the short film that had Paddington Bear come to tea at the Palace, marmalade sandwiches included.
Fans on Twitter adored the piece, calling it ‘better than the segment she did with James Bond for the 2012 Olympics’, and some thought that ‘the Queen should have been an actress if she’d had another life path.
It shows the Queen’s robust sense of humor that underlies her strong morals and sense of duty, having served her country for 70 years. Hopefully, this isn’t the last time she takes part in such a project and we’ll see her perform again someday.
