PSG vs Lyon ended up in draw
The match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Olympique Lyon which took place on Monday (10/1/2022) was successful with a balanced score. Despite having taken the lead early in the game through Lucas Paqueta’s goal in the 7th minute, Lyon had to settle for a 1-1 score after Thilo Kehrer’s reply in the 76th minute. As a PSG player, Lionel Messi couldn’t do anything because he was still recovering after being exposed to COVID-19.
In the first half the game was evenly matched. Both teams played openly, although in the end Lyon attacked first through Houssem Aouar’s kick in the sixth minute. The kick was successfully thwarted by Keylor Navas. Lyon finally outperformed PSG through Lucas Paqueta’s goal in the 7th minute through Bruno Guimares’ gastric bait.
This goal changed the situation to 1-0. Successfully breaking into PSG’s goal, in the 20th minute, Guimaraes and Paqueta tried again their luck and was thwarted by Keylor Navas. Getting the attack, PSG responded with a counter-attack scheme but Leandro Peredes failed to finish. In the 42nd minute, Kyllian Mbappe almost changed the position through his shot which hit the post.
In the second half, the team nicknamed Le Perisiens played more daring. The attack was also carried out through Ander Herrera’s kick in the 54th minute. Through Moussa Dembele’s kick, Lyon had the opportunity to add to the score, but Keylor Navas failed to do so. PSG even dared to attack through Mbappe and Icardi. The score was finally changed through Thilo Kehrer’s kick in the 76th minute.
Even though it ended in a draw, PSG still topped the standings with 47 points, while Lyon was ranked 11th with 25 points.
