The enormous video game developer NetEase has announced a beta test for Project M, their anticipated 5v5 mobile tactical shooter. However, predicated from what I’ve seen of the teaser, Project M seemed to be heavily match with Riot Games’ VALORANT.
Valorant’s peculiar graphic design aesthetic distinguishes it from many other prominent games while also making it captivating and low-requirement in terms of system needs, allowing it to be playable on older PCs.
The argument for this isn’t simply because the games appear alike, but because Project M appears to have “robbed” too many features from Valorant, to the point where it’s simpler to argue about what the game doesn’t have rather than what it does and this drew the attention of Valorant players right away.
Project M concentrates on “precise game play” and features a number of guns that are identical to those seen in VALORANT. The trailer then shows a range of “specialized talents” that individuals can use, some of which appear to be straight replicas of VALORANT agents’ capabilities. Sage’s Barrier wall, Sova’s drone, and Brimstone’s tactical smokes, among other things, may all be observed. The spike even resembles the bomb that is supposed to be implanted and neutralized in the game’s find and destroy mode.
Riot Games is owned by Tencent, one of the largest Chinese technology companies, and NetEase is one of their largest rivals in the Chinese digital media industry, so it will be intriguing to see how Tencent reacts to this circumstance and if they plan to take lawful action.
