Post Malone’s A Pokemon Trainer

For Pokemon’s 25th anniversary, The Pokemon Trading Card Game collaborated with Post Malone, Katy Perry, and J Balvin to make unique trainer cards.

 

The new cards appeared on the official Pokemon website with all three musicians drawn as trainers with their Pokemon: Katy Perry with Pikachu, Post Malone with Dragonite and Butterfree, and J Balvin with Charizard. These three were the only ones to receive their cards, but other artists such as Vince Staples, Lil Yachty, and more also contributed songs to the franchise’s 25th-anniversary album.

 

 

Sadly, there is no news on whether the other artists will receive cards or if the cards will come to the public. However, each trainer has a number that resembles their birth date. So, there’s a fun fact.

 

 

On top of drawing musicians as trainers, Pokemon also celebrated their anniversary by making reprints of the series’ most iconic cards for the card game, including the original expensive Charizard and Birthday Pikachu.

 

 

On the anime side, Pokemon Journeys is preparing a second season that will continue on Netflix. Also, Pokemon Evolutions have begun. Launching on Pokemon’s official Youtube channel, Evolutions will retell key story moments from every generation in the game’s main series.

 

 

And they’re not done yet. The company released New Pokemon Snap and is coming out with more games: Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in 2021 and Pokemon Legends: Arceus in 2022. Universal Studios Japan has even announced to represent Pokemon at the company’s theme parks.
