PlayStation 5 Replaces Nintendo Switch As The US Top-Selling Console

Nintendo took a seat in the US top-selling console position for almost 3 years. However, Sony PlayStation 5 oversold Nintendo Switch in September US sales, thus it ends Nintendo Switch’s position as a top-selling console in the US market which lasted for 33 months. Mat Piscatella, executive director of the NPD group tweeted:

US NPD HW – September 2021 snaps the remarkable 33 consecutive month streak that Nintendo Switch was the market’s leading platform in hardware unit sales. November 2018 was the last month a platform other than Nintendo Switch led the market in unit sales (PlayStation 4).

This defeat concludes that PlayStation 5 is a potential leading console around the world, despite being difficult to find for now due to the ongoing global chip shortage.
