With Raven Software releasing yet another Warzone update, several players are dissatisfied with how far behind the Modern Warfare weaponry appear to be.
Over the last two years, the Warzone meta has been continually shifting as nearly every sort of weapon has had its day in the spotlight.
Though, due to the integration of Black Ops Cold War into the battle royale, there have been a few hiccups along the way, including bugs, glitches, and, of course, hackers. However, in terms of the meta, Cold War weapons have taken dominance.
Many players still have classes based on weaponry from Modern Warfare 2, but you’re really behind the times if you’re not utilizing a Cold War weapon. Of course, this has resulted in some complications.
Many players did not want any further nerfs to Modern Warfare weapons, which already fall behind in terms of power. That is, however, what occurred in the August 16 update. The AS Val, MP5, and a few others were all severely damaged.
As a result, players have begun to wonder why Raven felt compelled to target certain weapons, as it appears that they are attempting to render them ‘irrelevant’ in some way. “We’re at a point where using MW loadouts is straight up putting yourself at a disadvantage,” said Redditor o_oPeter. “I don’t like Cold War and I’m not going to grind Plunder games for hours straight to level CW guns.”
Others instantly mirrored same sentiments and proposed alternatives. One player said, “At this point, just take MW weaponry out of Warzone.” “Make a separate playlist for only MW guns so we can have fun against without being completely outclassed.” Though, some just wanted to blast the devs. “Raven is absolutely clueless and this is made clear by their so-called “balancing” that they did in season 4,” said another player.
Some players speculated that when the battle royale merges with Vanguard, the cycle will repeat itself, but this time it will be Cold War weapons that suffer.
Of course, not every weapon in Modern Warfare is ineffective. Only three of the top ten most-picked weapons on WZRanked are from Modern Warfare, according to a cursory scan.
The Modern Warfare weaponry may get some love in a Season 5 reloaded update later this season, but for now, players aren’t happy.
