Disney revealed the first look of the new Pinocchio live-action remake.
The Academy Award-winner, Robert Zemeckis sits as the director of this classic animated Disney film. Alongside Chris Weitz, Zemeckis also co-wrote the screenplay for Pinocchio. The live-action film Pinocchio will bring back a fan-favorite bedtime story of the wooden puppet’s unforgettable adventure.

In the first look, Tom Hanks is shown with messy white hair and a scruffy mustache in front of a yet-to-be-alive Pinocchio sitting on his workbench. The remake has maintained true to the originals’ look of Pinocchio, including his yellow hat with the red feather, alpine-style clothe, and identical features.
Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, a toy-maker who creates and treats the puppet Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) like his own son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio’s mentor and “conscience”. Academy Award-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo plays Blue Fairy and Keegan-Michael Key as John. The Oscar-nominee Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull is a new character in this film. There is also actor Luke Evans who plays the sly coachman.
The live-action Pinocchio is produced by Robert Zemeckis, Derek Hogue, Andrew Miano, Chris Weitz, and Paul Weitz, while executive producers are Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire, and Jeremy Johns. The live-action remake Pinocchio will stream exclusively in September 2022 on Disney Plus.
The Pinocchio image is only a first look, with more to follow throughout the year, but it seems to be the first Disney live-action remake since Mulan in 2020.
Peter Pan and Wendy will also be released on Disney+ later this year, while The Little Mermaid will be released in cinemas on May 26, 2023.
