Percy Jackson Disney Plus Casting Update

Percy Jackson’s author, Rick Riordan, gave an update on the Disney Plus show.

Recently, Rick Riordan informed fans on the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians Disney Plus show. He will be the co-writer and executive producer on the project. Since he is, he has promised that it will be faithful to the original source. Riordan says this because he knows that fans didn’t love the first two live action movies and mentioned that he “owed it to the fans to try one more time.”

Percy Jackson is one of Riordan’s best-selling books centered around Greek mythology. Percy Jackson is a young demi-god who tries to stop a war between gods. During his epic-fantasy journey, he meets several characters and gods like Zeus and Persephone.

Riordan mentioned two other movies beforehand, and those were Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. I thought they were decent at the time, but I never read any of the books.

Anyway, Riordan gave an update on the cast for the new tv series. The author said that the first stages of the audition process is over, and actors are now doing chemistry reads with each other for the central roles: Percy, Annabeth, and Grover.

“On Saturday, we headed to the Disney Studios in Burbank for some in-person chemistry read auditions for Percy Jackson. This means we brought together different combinations of young actors we had identified as interesting candidates for the roles of Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, and had them read through scenes together to see how they interacted. It was informative and exciting, and though we have come to no decisions yet, the process is moving along well. Seeing these actors taking on the roles in person made me appreciate once again just how talented and capable middle school kids can be when given a chance to shine. They were all amazing,” Riordan commented on his website.
