Part Two: Star Wars Projects In The Works

Star Wars has held a soft spot in many hearts, and over the years the fandom has grown. This has finally paid off as we now have a multitude of Star Wars projects to devour. And there are more in the works.

With the non-stop factory that is Disney always adding new content it can be hard to keep up, so here’s a quick list of the Disney-owned Star Wars projects coming soon.

It Better Be Fun": What We Learned from Vanity Fair's Article About the Future of Star Wars and Lucasfilm -

Obi-Wan Kenobi. Tv Show. Coming 27th of May. Set after Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the show is centered on what Obi-Wan Kenobi did in the years while he was in hiding from the Empire as he watches over Luke Skywalker. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are returning to reprise their roles, and with only days to go, the hype is building.

Star Wars: Hunters. Game. 2022. Hunters is a free-to-play mobile game battle arena. Set following the fall of the Empire, players can choose between a vast range of playable characters, such as bounty hunters, stormtroopers, and more, with a number of different maps available to play.

Andor. Tv Show. Late 2022. Following the popularity of Rogue One, it’s no surprise that we’re getting more content with some of our favorite characters, and this prequel of a prequel is set to amaze fans. “It is the building of a revolution,” Andor lead man Diego Luna explains in an interview. Not a lot has been released about the show, but sources say it is a spy thriller.

The Bad Batch: Season Two. Tv Show. Late 2022. Following immediately after The Clone Wars, season one focussed on a group of clones who had a little something extra. Using these skills, they protect an unaltered clone as they try to find their feet in an unfamiliar and dangerous galaxy. Season two of The Bad Batch season two has had little in the way of information come fans’ way.

The Mandalorian: Season 3. Tv Show. Late 2022/Early 2023. Everyone’s favourite dad is back for another season. Filming for the new season of The Mandalorian started at the end of 2021 and has already wrapped, but little has been reported about what direction the new season will take. Either way, it seems things will be even more dangerous for Grogu, as Moff Gideons actor said in an interview, “this child has magic powers, 50 years old, and can see the the future, and we want everyone to know, eventually on this show, that this child could save our universe.”

Jedi Fallen Order 2. Game. 2022 or 2023. The first fallen order was a big hit, and earlier this year when a sequel was announced fans went wild. The devs have been working on this game for a while so it shouldn’t be too long till we see it. And recently there was a leak, naming the new game, Jedi Fallen Order: Survivor. Whether that’s true or not is up for debate, but it is not the only unconfirmed news. Speculation and ‘insider’ knowledge have caused fans to get excited about the idea of new playable characters.

Ahsoka. Tv Show. 2023. Following The Clone Wars cartoon, Ahsoka become an important part of the Star Wars fandom, so when the once Jedi appeared in The Mandalorian in what could only be an act of fan service, viewers were surprised and thrilled. And now the Togruta is set to step into the spotlight like never before. Hayden Christensen is also set to be in this, though how this will work with both iterations of his character, Anakin and Darth Vader, dead, is a mystery.

Unnamed Taika Witeti Movie. Movie. Unknown. But Disney insiders say it should be released before Squadron Wars. There is next to no information on this film, but anything that Taika Witeti is involved in is sure to be incredible.

Squadron Wars. Movie. A 2023 date was originally slated, but it has since been pushed back to sometime in 2024. Squadron Wars is centered on the rebel starfighter squadron. Which era and further plot is unavailable at this time. There is a game of the same name, but no confirmation about a link has been given as of yet.

The Acolyte. Tv Show. Unknown release date. Set in the final days of the High Republic this mystery thriller is set to be dark, as it revolves around secrets and dark side powers.

Eclipse. Game. The release date for this is unknown, but we can expect it won’t be for a few years since video games take a lot of time and development. Set in the High Republic Era, Eclipse is set to be an extremely in-depth experience, with multiple playable characters, actions that have consequences, and an already stunning deep dive into the Star Wars universe. This is set to be the Star Wars game that we’ve all been waiting for.

Knights of the Old Republic Remake. Game. Unknown. This video game also is very up in the air release-wise, we’ve seen a promo, but that could mean that the game is still years off or right around the corner. Set 4000 years before the prequels KOTOR is a remake of the old beloved Star Wars game of the same name. Whether there will be integral changes to the story or gameplay is yet to be determined.

A Droid Story. Tv Show. Unknown. A potential remake of the tv show of the same name, A Droid story follows R2-D2 and C3PO and is being developed by LucasFilm Animation.

Exegol. Unknown. If not for an empty IMDb page with the production company listed as Walt Disney Pictures, this elusive project wouldn’t be on the list. There is no information to be found anywhere about this one, so your guess is as good as mine as to whether this actually turns into anything.

The Book of Boba Fett has yet to be greenlit for a season two, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen soon. On the other hand, The Mandalorian spin-off show Rangers of the New Republic has been shelved. Whether this show will ever see the light of day is uncertain following the drama of rumored lead actress, Cara Dune, who has also been dropped from The Mandalorian.
