Part Three: Already Existing Star Wars Projects (Games)

In an article published previously, (almost) all of the movies and shows set in the Star Wars universe are listed. And a second list containing all of the upcoming Star Wars projects followed not long after. None of the lists includes the Star Wars books as that is a colossal undertaking and many criss-cross canons so easily that it is hard to make heads or tails of it all. So to round out the Star Wars media available, we have the games. While the other lists involved everything, this one will involve only the most popular games.

This list is in order of release.

Star Wars Episode 1: Racer 1999.

Podracing is made possible in this early game, with the track from the Phantom Menace available to race as well as others unfamiliar to fans. In Racer, there is the option to play as Anakin, or 21 other piolets, as you battle it out to be the best in this racing game.

Bountyhunter 2002.

With the story a prequel to Clone Wars, and tied into a comic revolving around Jango Fett, the third-person game was a mixed bag with fans. Allowing fans to play out their bounty hunter dreams of catching, and killing, targets, the star wars game was good for its time, though the graphics are hard to stomach now. That didn’t stop PlayStation from re-releasing it for ps4 and ps3 in 2015, though a remaster would certainly be well anticipated.

Knights of the Old Republic 2003.

A game Set 4000 years before the Star Wars world we know, you play as the last hope for the Jedi Order and the peace, but the choice between the light side of the force and the dark has never been so hard. Knights of the Old Republic introduced an entirely new look at Star Wars, and become a big hit with fans of the movies. It has recently been announced that there is a remake in the works.

Jedi Academy 2003.

Learn under Luke Skywalker as a new student, and become one with the force. With new locations in the expansive Star Wars galaxy to explore, more customizations, and familiar faces to see, this game lets you experience the pull between the light side and the dark side. Though Jedi Academy isn’t the first game in its series, it is the one that was most popular, with the games before it being released in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2o02.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II — The Sith Lords Will Be Reborn on Mobile | StarWars.com

Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords 2005.

Set five years after KOTORA, you play as a Jedi in Exile for their part in the near annihilation of the Jedi Order. The Sith Lords changed the interactive features from the last game, adding that, the status of your force allegiance can also affect your teammates.

The Force Unleashed 2008.

Starkiller, the secret apprentice to Darth Vader, finds that his alliance might not be what he first thought it was. The Force Unleashed, though different from what came before, was a massive hit with fans and become one of the biggest-selling Star Wars games ever. Recently the game got a remaster and was re-released on newer consoles.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga 2009.

Following the plot of the movies, players could become any character and explore the familiar environments over and over again. While there had been Lego Star Wars releases before in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011, and 2016, this was the culmination of most of these games and became one of the most popular Lego games available. Not included in the complete saga was the Force Awakens game released in 2016 and the Clone Wars game released in 2011. In 2022 Lego Star Wars received an overhaul, exciting fans new and old.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (Video Game 2010) - IMDb

The Force Unleashed II 2010.

Once more Starkiller is in the sights of Darth Vader, though this time for completely different reasons, that is just one of the worries for the once Sith, as he searches the galaxy for his love. Highly sought after The Force Unleashed II is the less successful sequel to the popular The Force Unleashed.

The Old Republic 2011.

Set 300 years after the previous game, a new conflict has arisen in the face of shaky peace in the galaxy. The Free to Play MMORPG allows you to choose between Jedi, Sith, Bounty Hunter, and more in the expansive universe. A sequel to Knights of the Old Republic I and II, The Old Republic branched out even further than before, allowing for more gameplay options and greater character influence. Expansions were later added.

Battlefront 2015.

Fight the enemy or become the enemy in this battle-heavy video game that allows you a front-row seat to beloved planets and familiar faces. Battlefront takes what was good in the original 2004 Battlefront and makes it even better.

BattleFront II 2017.

Set in the interim between the original trilogy and The Force Awakens, Captain Iso and her team must decide what side of the war they are on. The galaxy is your oyster in BattleFront II, with options to play out battles from all three eras as well as a whole new story available to play.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – is this the Star Wars game fans have been looking for? | Games | The Guardian

Jedi Fallen order 2019.

Cal Kestis was a padawan when Palpatine put order 66 into effect, and he is one of the few Jedi who survived. Joined by the crew of the Mantis, Cal sets out to reignite the Jedi Order. Jedi Fallen Order has not been acknowledged as canon in the Star Wars universe, but fans embraced it when it was released, making it an integral part of the Star Wars fandom.

Squadron Wars: 2020.

In a space combat game, players can join the rebellion or fight against them in artfully designed 5v5 dogfights. With the option to play single-player or multiplayer, experience both familiar and never before seen combat in Squadron Wars.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga 2022.

A much-anticipated follow-up to previous Star Wars Lego games, this takes what players had previously been given and blows it out of the water. With more playable characters than ever, more in-depth levels, and massive world exploration, this game allows you to replay your favorite movies or scenes, spanning the prequels, originals, and sequels. It wowed fans earlier this year.

This list will grow steadily as more and more Star Wars games are added, but for now, this is a comprehensive list of the most popular games in the Star Wars universe. With the hype for Star Wars growing once more, it won’t be long before every game on this list is being re-released or remastered, which will be a treat.

Until then though, most of these games are available on steam to play, links are included in each listing.
