Part One: Star Wars Projects Already Here (TV & Film)

 

In an article coming soon, all of the games set in the Star Wars universe will be listed. And coming tomorrow is a list of all upcoming Star Wars projects.

 

Now, books arent included in this list, purely because that could be a list of its own. Large and expansive and a mess of stories, characters, and timelines, the books of the Star Wars franchise are for the most part, not cannon. This doesn’t make them any less important, but keep that in mind when trying to make sense of the linear order of Star Wars as a whole.

 

This list would go on forever if every piece of Star Wars content was added, so it’s also worth noting that the Star Wars lego episodes, episodes like the Family Guy reimagining, and other similar instances will be left out too.

A New Hope 1977. Princess Leia, a key part of the Rebellion, is taken prisoner by Darth Vader but manages to get a distress signal down to Tatooine where a young man, Luke, finds it. Luke, joined by once Jedi Ben, and smugglers Han and Chewie set off to save the Princess. A New Hope is fans’ first look into what would become an expansive universe.

 

Star Wars Holiday Special 1978. Chewie and Han are on their way to visit Chewie’s family when they are caught up in an imperial blockade. The whole main cast gets together in the goofy holiday-themed fever dream that is the Star Wars Holiday Special.

 

The Empire Strikes Back 1980. The Rebellion has set up base on Hoth but must flee after they are discovered by the Empire. Our heroes part ways, Luke to a far off swamp planet to train under an old Jedi Master, while Leia, Han, and the others take refuge in cloud city to hide from the Empire. The Empire Strikes Back is often credited as being the best of the original three films.

 

Return of the Jedi 1983. The Rebellion grows desperate to destroy the Death Star as the battle against the Empire leans in the enemy’s favor. But the Rebels have too much to lose, setting up on Endor for their final battle. At the same time, Luke is also dealing with a complicated family burden. Return of the Jedi drew the trilogy to a close with a bang.

 

Caravan of Courage 1984. Two shipwrecked children are found by Ewok Wicket and his friends, who help the children to get home. This spin-off movie featured. Caravan of Courage may have had the cute Ewoks from Return of the Jedi but even they could not make this film the hit that they were hoping for.

 

The Battle for Endor 1985. When a power source is stolen from the Ewok village, old friends must band together again to get it back and protect the Ewoks. The Battle for Endor did slightly better than its predecessor, but neither could recreate the magic of the originals.

 

Droids 1985. Following R2-D2 and C3PO years before they joined the rebels and resh from the release of Caravan of Courage, the Star Wars team tried once more to use the magic of the trilogy to create Droids.

 

Ewoks 1985-1987. Follows the Ewoks as they have many misadventures. The animated Ewoks follow Wicket in yet another installment.

 

The Phantom Menace 1999. When their ship breaks down on the planet of Tatooine with an important diplomatic guest on board, a Jedi, his Padawan Obi-Wan, and a handmaiden Padme must work together with a young slave boy named Anakin to raise the money they need to leave. But getting off the planet is the least of their worries. The Phantom Menace started the rollercoaster ride that was the prequels, and while many people weren’t fond of these when they came out, public opinion has shifted away from the negative in recent years.

 

 

Attack of the Clones 2002. Reunited when politician Padme’s political views almost get her killed, Padawan Anakin must protect the only woman he will ever love, while his Master works on tracking down who is behind the Senator’s murder plot. Attack of the Clones draws Luke and Leia’s parents even closer together.

 

Revenge of the Sith 2005. The clone Wars have begun and Anakin as a Jedi is off fighting in the War while his secret wife Padme fights in the senate to bring him, and the other Jedi home. But it is not the war that threatens them, but the evil presence who has the power to be their undoing. Revenge of the Sith drew the Skywalker saga to an end. Or so we thought.

 

The Clone Wars 2008-2020. The beloved cartoon is set between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith focusing on the War, including new characters of the troopers as well as old favorites like Anakin and Obi-Wan. The Clone Wars also introduces a character who is set to have a tv show coming soon.

 

Rebels 2014-2018. A young boy with the force joins up with a team of misfits who fight back against the Empire. In the same vein as Clone Wars, Rebels tells the untold story of found family.

 

The Force Awakens 2015. Rey, Finn, and Poe, our new trio separately work with the Resistance to bring down the first order. The Force Awakens reunites the beloved original characters and introduces them to an all-new generation.

 

 

Rouge One 2016. A prequel to A New Hope is the story of how the Death Star plans came to be in the hands of Princess Leia. Introducing never before seen characters and a star-studded cast, Rogue One does what no other Star Wars film had managed to do since the originals; capture the hearts of all Star Wars fans.

 

The Last Jedi 2017. Rey has turned to Luke Skywalker to train her while Kylo Ren and the First Order wreak havoc over the Galaxy in their hunt for Leia and the Resistance. The second installment of the third trilogy is where the fervor for Star Wars projects turns to worry by fans, as The Last Jedi is considered a disappointment by most.

 

Forces of Destiny 2017-2018. Girl-powered, these shots show how the woman of Star Wars is affected by their choices. Familiar actors reprise their roles in Forces of Destiny‘s shorts.

 

Galaxy of Adventure 2018-. Using what we already know of the films, this short series of animated moments reintroduces key moments in the saga. Galaxy of Adventures uses the voices of our favorite Star Wars actors.

 

Resistance 2018- 2020. A young pilot with the resistance undertakes a dangerous mission; spying on the First Order. Poe Dameron is also in Resistance.

 

Solo 2018. The Han Solo prequel follows the aforementioned smuggler in his origin story as he joins a heist with some familiar faces. Solo received unfair flack, but couldn’t quite recreate the magic needed to blow high expectations out of the water.

 

The Rise of Skywalker 2019. Big bad, Palpatine is back to reign terror through the Galaxy in his third era while another generation of Jedi prepares to defeat him once and for all. The Rise of Skywalker has taken the title of the most disliked Star Wars film, though I’m sure that fans are forgetting about the Ewok films.

 

 

The Mandalorian 2019-. A dangerous bounty hunter comes to care for a small and helpless being who has the force. The Mandalorian has restored fans’ good opinion of the Star Wars franchise and has since opened a door for more content.

 

The Book of Boba Fett 2021-. The infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett returns in this tv series, delighting fans as he fights for the Hutt territory. Boba Fett is played by Temuera Morrison, a kiwi and the actor who played Jango Fett, as well as the clones, in the prequels.

 

And there we have it, a comprehensive and entirely too long look at almost every Star Wars film or tv show ever made.
