Overwatch Winter Wonderland Ends Today – Current Patch Update Reverted

Another Overwatch ‘Winter Wonderland Event’ goes by in three short weeks. The Dev team did an outstanding job with the skins this year, and brought back four arcade game modes that were tied to the event. Hopefully players were able to nabbed the skins; since the event has now left the live servers.

Otherwise you might have to wait until the Anniversary 2022 to potentially earn and buy the skins which might not happen until later Q2 of this year. If you missed the weekly epic skins, there hasn’t been another method of redeeming or getting another chance to earn them at a later date.

Now that Winter Wonderland is over, and no news on the sequel as of yet; what’s happening on the live servers now? A patch was slated to release today, January 6, 2022. The Patch notes include general bug and map fixes. Introduction to a new feature allowing voice chat change and volume boost. Moira can jumper higher with fade, Reinhardt gets a damage increase during his ‘Earthshatter’ (200 damage within 1.75m impact area), and Hanzo’s arrow can ricochet upon impact.

Unfortunately, when this patch hit live servers, there were some instability issues that players found. One being noted by players was that Hanzo storm arrows were penetrating through shields instead of being damaging them. Blizzard has decided to roll the version back to a previous December 16, 2021 one instead.

Players who were excited for a new patch will have to sit tight until the Devs fix the current issues. No news on when this patch will be released – but should not be too long of a wait either. For more information on the patch, see the official patch notes here.
