Nier Automata Anime Adaptation

Aniplex has announced an anime adaptation for the the hit action-RPG Nier Automata.

Sony’s anime production company, Aniplex, released a teaser trailer on YouTube and Twitter to reveal the show’s development. The studio released the information during the game’s 5th anniversary livestream. As for cast and release date, they did not share that, so we’ll have to wait for more details.

If you don’t know Nier Automata, you should at least know about the game’s protagonist 2B. Alien invaders have taken over Earth with their machines and have driven humans from the planet. To get rid of the aliens, “YorHA,” a team of androids, fight off the machines to take back Earth. Players control 2B and have 9S and A2 alongside them to do it.

The game originally came out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017 with Square Enix and Platinum Games behind it. The game even got a sequel, NieR Replicant, in 2021 and a mobile game, Nier Reincarnation. 2B was even a guest character in SoulCalibur VI, and the game got crossovers with Final Fantasy XIV, Phantasy Star Online 2, and Fall Guys.

The initial drop of Nier Automata may not have been a huge success, but it slowly gained its own popularity and audience. That’s why you should know who 2B is. Well, that and the glorious art.

Anyway, fans seem to be excited from the YouTube and Twitter comments. Rumors say that A1 Productions, the studio behind Sword Art Online, will work on the animation. However, let’s see what official news says later on.
