Nawazuddin Siddiqui To Star In American Indie-Film

Famous Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be playing the lead role in the upcoming American indie film ‘Laxman Lopez’. The film is a Christmas-themed movie. The movie will be directed by Mexico’s Roberto Girault, director of local hits including 2017’s ‘La Leyenda Del Diamante’, 2015’s ‘Los Arboles Mueren de Pie’ and ‘El Estudiante’ from 2009, reports Variety’.

The project is ushered by New York-based production company Imagine Infinite Productions. The filming will begin at the end of this year. The movie will take place entirely in the US. Casting details will be announced closer to the date of production. The producer is Lalit Bhatnagar, the writer, and co-producer of the horror project ‘Little Darling’.

The Mexican director Roberto Girault said that “I am very excited about this collaboration. This script is close to my heart. The transition of the story, and the challenges that the lead character faces are sure to have everyone intrigued. After reading the script, I started searching the perfect Laxman Lopez. Immediately my mind drifted towards Nawazuddin. I have seen a few of his works. And know that this role will bring out a lesser-known vulnerable side to him. It is a project that I can assure to leave people with a smile on their face, and a lot of hunger in their tummy!”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been one of India’s most prolific and appreciated actors in recent years. The actor’s remarkable performances in Manto, Raman Raghav, Gangs of Wasseypur, The Lunchbox, and recent series like Sacred Games and McMafia are appreciable.  He received an International Emmy nomination for the 2020 Indian comedy drama series Serious Men.

The actor celebrated his 48th birthday at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. Apart from Laxman Lopez, the actor has an interesting line-up of films which include ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’, ‘Noorani Chehra’, and ‘Adbhut’.
