Movies to Watch On New Years Night

Lighting up fireworks on New Year sure is a common thing; and most people enjoy the colourful lights or attend a new years party. However, some people prefer staying in and watching movies with their loved ones. I give you several movies that are perfect to watch on New Years night.

1. Home Alone 1 & 2 (1990-1992)

Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), an arrogant 8-year-old, behaves way out of line the day before a family trip to Paris; And his mother (Catherine O’Hara) forces him to sleep in the attic as a consequence. The next day, Kevin wakes up to a quiet house after the McCallisters accidentally went to the airport without him. Believing his dream to have no family had come true. But his enthusiasm fades when he finds that two con artists (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern); are planning to rob the McCallister home and that he has to safeguard his home.

In the second movie, Kevin loses sight of his father at the airport; he boards a flight bound for New York, while the rest of the McCallisters go to Florida. Kevin, now alone in New York, swindles his way into a room at the Plaza Hotel and resumes his typical shenanigans. However, when Kevin discovers that the Bandits (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) are on the run, he finds it hard to stop them from stealing an old man’s toy business right before Christmas.

2. Harry Potter (2001-2011)

A movie version of J.K. Rowling’s first famous children’s novel about Harry Potter. A boy who discovers that he is the son of two late great wizards; and has special magical abilities of his own on his 11th birthday. He is called from his existence as an unloved boy to become a pupil and study at Hogwarts, an English wizarding boarding school. There, he befriends a group of people who become his closest companions and assist him in uncovering the truth about his parents’ unexplained deaths.

3. Forrest Gump (1994)

Slow Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) never considered himself to be handicapped, and owing to his supporting mother (Sally Field), he enjoys life like he’s the luckiest man in the world. Whether he’s crushing the field as a varsity football player, going to war in Vietnam, or being a captain of a shrimp boat, Forrest influences people with his youthful positivity. But Forrest’s childhood sweetheart, the charming but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright), may be the most difficult to preserve.

4. The Age of Adaline (2015)

Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has magically maintained her 29-year-old appearance for over eight decades, never letting herself grow close to anybody for fear of her secret being revealed. Later, she had the chance of meeting with Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman), a charming benefactor, rekindling Adaline’s long-suppressed desire to live and love freely. When Adaline’s weekend with Ellis’ parents threatens to reveal the truth, she has to decide whether to live or stay alive.

5. The Pacifier (2005)

Shane Wolfe (Vin Diesel), an elite Navy SEAL, can withstand almost anything hurled at him, but even the greatest can eventually break. When Wolfe fails to protect scientist Howard Plummer (Tate Donovan) from being murdered, he is given a second chance by being assigned to protect Plummer’s five children, including rebel Zoe (Brittany Snow), Seth (Max Thieriot), and adorable Lulu (Morgan York). These youngsters, together with their pet duck, are pushing this seasoned fighter to the limit.
