MOVIE REVIEW: Corpse Bride

 

“Isn’t the view beautiful? It takes my breath away. Well, it would if I had any.”- a quote from the movie Corpse Bride.

 

Set back in the late 1800s in a Victorian village, a man and woman named Victor Van Dort (Johnny Depp) and Victoria Everglot (Emily Watson) got engaged because the Everglots need the money or else they’ll be living on the streets and the Van Dorts want to be part of the high society. But when things do not go as planned.

 

 

At their wedding rehearsal, Victor goes into the woods to practice his vows. Just as soon as he gets them right, he finds himself married to Emily (Helena Bonham Carter), the Corpse Bride. So two brides, one groom, who will Victor pick?

 

 

Personal Review

The movie itself is great from the storyline, soundtrack, and up to its production quality. You may actually not believe that this is a kid’s movie. Moreover, the lines too characters from the movie throwing quotable lines for the audience.

 

In addition, I adore the color grading on this film really suits the Halloween vibes this month and of course, the movie also shows the viewers how to let go of something and doesn’t hold any bad feelings toward that person.

 

Meanwhile, aside from their love story, you will also see yourself laughing at the characters’ sarcastic lines that they throw at each other.

 

I always wanted to watch this film due to that I always see screenshots of some of the scenes all over my Social Media Newsfeed, I got curious about it, and luckily it is already available on Netflix.

 

On the other hand, the Corpse Bride is very popular due to its aesthetic clothes in the movie. So, if you are looking for some Halloween Costume ideas try to watch this film to get some inspiration.

 

Honestly, this might sound that I am making an issue but watching this film reminds me of Disney’s Coco but not entirely that it’s a carbon copy but you know, the idea of a living boy went to the World of the Dead, kind of the same for me. But of course, they still do have a different storyline so not the same at all.

 

If you wanted to feel good at the same time feel the Halloween season I recommend that you should watch this film.
