Moments Where Luffy Impersonates His Crewmates – One Piece

One Pieceone of the biggest and longest-running anime shows in anime history thanks to Eiichiro Oda, who wrote the story, and Toei Animation, who produced the anime episodes every week. As a One Piece fan myself, I daresay that Luffy might be the funniest character in One Piece’s world. Prove me wrong.

Although he’s a bit dumb and doesn’t know that he’s funny, I still laugh at every situation where he does funny things in the anime. There are many times when Luffy proves to us that he might not really be aiming to be the Pirate King, but a Comedy King instead. And one of the funniest things Luffy does in the anime that is unbelievable and gets me laughing every time I remember that certain scenes, is Luffy trying to impersonate or do impressions of some of his nakamas (crewmates/friends/allies). So here are some moments where Luffy impersonates his nakamas and it’s hilarious.

Sanji Impressions

This might be the very first time Luffy tries to do impressions of one of his nakamas. You can’t really do impressions of someone you haven’t traveled with for a long time or you’re not close to. This was during the Alabasta Arc. This is where Luffy and his crewmates, except the later crewmates who will join them later in the anime, enter the country of Alabasta to help their friend Vivi, the Princess of the country, kick Crocodile’s butt. They were captured at this scene but still had the guts to do this in this situation. Just like Usopp, I also laughed hard at this scene, but unlike Usopp and Luffy, I didn’t get beat by Nami, who can secretly use Haki the way he beats Luffy, who is a rubber man.

The second time, Luffy made an impression of Sanji. This was during the Skypiea Arc, which is one of the best arcs in One Piece in my opinion. I also laughed like Usopp when I was watching this, but just like Nami, they got beaten by Sanji this time.

Chopper Impression

This impression was after the Alabasta Arc, where Robin boarded their ship. At first, they were hostile towards her because Robin was with Croco’s. However, all it takes is Robin to be a woman for Sanji and jewels for Nami. Zoro and Usopp were the only ones not at lost cost. But later on, Usopp gives in when Luffy calls him and shows his Chopper’s impression by using Robin’s fruit power to make a pretend antler.

Zoro Impression

Before Luffy made an impression on Sanji at Skypiea Arc, he made a Zoro impression first. Here, Luffy pretends that he’s sleeping and Usopp acts like Nami, who’s trying to wake Zoro up. Zoro is known to be a sleepy head in One Piece, but not as well known for losing all his directions. They are actually in a dire situation here but still have the time to make these impressions.

Usopp Impression

Not knowing that he was swollen by a big snake during the Skypiea Arc, Nami pulled his nose in every direction for being a dummy. Now his nose was like Usopp’s. However, the funniest part here is that he assumed that the skeleton lying inside the snake was Nami.

Did you also laugh at Luffy’s impressions of his crewmates? Share your thoughts.
