It is time for another mobile game to be turned into anime. Recently, Arknights, a mobile game, has been granted a television adaptation. The post appeared on Hypergryph’s official Twitter account, and Yostar Pictures is behind its production.
So what is Arknights?
If you don’t know, Arknights is a gacha game that takes place in the dystopian world of Terra. Catastrophes disrupt the world of Terra by attacking inhabitants and leaving a terminal disease known as Oripathy.
To stop the disease, Rhodes Island, a paramilitary medical organization, treats inhabitants infected with Oripathy. The player is known as the “Doctor” who has lost their memory in the midst of this war. With the help of recruited units, the player and allies must defeat the Catastrophes.
As stated before, this isn’t the first mobile game to get an anime adaptation. In fact, this isn’t Yostar Pictures’ first time either. Yostar is a mobile game publisher that has also made Azur Lane and turned it into an anime in October 2019. There is a possibility for Yostar to turn other games such as Mahjong Soul and Blue Archive into anime as well.
Outside of Yostar, Granblue Fantasy, Fate Grand Order, and Kantai Collection have all received adaptations along with others. It’s only time before mobile games completely take over the world. No more PC master race or console wars. Look at Genshin Impact! Mobile games are more convenient and playable. Sooner or later, mobile games will reign every other game.
