Fans of the famous cube-themed sandbox game Minecraft, rejoice! Mojang has revealed details regarding the Minecraft 1.19 update called The Wild Update. Here’s everything you need to know about this update.
This announcement was made in their Minecraft Live 2021 event, held on October 16. The update will be live in 2022, however, a specific release date has yet to be announced. If it is similar to the Caves and Cliffs update, we might be looking at an early-mid 2022 release.
New Biomes
As we have mentioned before, this update will be known as The Wild Update. With this update, we can look forward to exploring two new biomes, which are the Birch Forest and the Mangrove Swamps. For now, we haven’t been able to take a look at the Birch Forest yet, aside from some concept art.

On the other hand, we have a lot of footage of the new Mangrove Swamps. In this update, they will introduce a new tree, known as the Mangrove Tree. A new tree would also mean a new wood type, which means new doors, fences and all the other wooden things.

New Mobs
In this update, they will also add new mobs, mainly Frogs. Unlike other mobs, Frogs do not breed to make smaller Frogs. Instead, we will also get Tadpoles in this update, making this the first time a baby mob is not just a smaller version of the adult mob. There will also be different Frog variations depending on the biome it spawned on, similar to villagers.
Although this might not really be a new mob, Minecraft will be adding Fireflies to the new update. We say it might not be a mob because from what we see, it looks more like a particle effect than a mob. We’ll just have to wait and see when the update comes out.

Deep Dark
The part where a lot of the fans have been waiting for is the Deep Dark. The Deep Dark will be an underground biome (from what we understand) and will be the home to new Sculk blocks. We think the Deep Dark Cities will be something like the Overworld’s version of the Nether Fortress. On the ground, you will see a new block called the Sculk Catalyst, which spreads Sculk blocks around whenever a mob dies near it.

The Deep Dark also has some brand new ambient noises which help set the eerie feeling to max. To top it all off, the biome will also have it’s own boss, the Warden. For now, we don’t know what it can do, and how it interacts with the environment yet. However, we were shown that a player with full Netherite armor could only take two hits from the Warden before dying. Talk about overkill!
We are super excited to see this update coming next year. For now, we will be patiently waiting for 1.18 to drop at the end of this year, before we anticipate 1.19. If you want to see the announcement for yourself, you can watch it here.
