Mamoru Hosoda, the same director of the well-received films ‘Wolf Children, Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time’, ‘Belle’ has earned over 2 billion yen in just 10 days. The film premiered on July 15,2021, at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation that lasted for quite some time. It premiered in Japan on July 16th.
In just ten days, the film ‘Belle’ sold over 1.69 million tickets, earning more than 2.4 billion yen (21.8 million USD).

This is a brief synopsis of the film:
Suzu, a 17-year-old high school student, lives in a rural town in Japan’s countryside with her father. Suzu, who has been traumatized by the loss of her mother at a young age, discovers the massive online world “U” one day and enters it as her avatar, Belle. Soon, all of U’s attention is focused on Belle, when a mysterious dragon-like figure appears in front of her.
