Mamma Mia-Inspired Summer Outfits

 

Mamma Mia might just be one of the best films ever made. The combination of ABBA, a Greek island, and the incredible outfits is something I have never stopped thinking about. As summer gets closer, my inner Donna gets ready to step out and shine! Whether you’re going to Greece or not, here are some Mamma Mia pieces you need!

 

Maxi Skirts

In Mamma Mia 2, Donna wears an incredible orange maxi skirt! I’ve fantasized about this dreamy skirt ever since. Maxi skirts are elegant but still super comfortable. If you’re going out for dinner or lounging at the beach, they can be dressed up or down so are perfect for any occasion.

 

Dungarees

No Donna Sheridan-inspired outfit would be complete without a pair of denim dungarees! These can be worn down with a white t-shirt or made edgier with a mesh long-sleeved top underneath. You can put your own spin on any Mamma Mia-inspired outfit- if you prefer to dress more girly and feminine, you could try a dungaree style dress instead. 

 

Off-the-shoulder playsuits

Young Donna especially is always seen wearing cute off-the-shoulder playsuits/dresses. If you’re spending time on a cruise, boat party, or even just a local river tour or boat ride, off-the-shoulder playsuits look effortless and beautiful! Donna wears a beige, off-the-shoulder long-sleeved playsuit when she’s on the boat with Bill! 

 

Ruffles and Metallic Colours

Metallic gold and silver bralettes and crop tops are a must-have to bring out your inner seventies Dynamo! For an iconic look, you could pair it with ruffled denim jeans, perfect for stomping on stage at karaoke. Or, if you just want to incorporate subtle Mamma Mia vibes into an outfit, why not try a metallic dress in your favourite colour?

 

Matching Jumpsuits

If you have any girls’ holidays or night outs planned, matching karaoke outfits is a must. It might not be the coolest, but it’s funny and a good memory. When Donna & The Dynamos perform at their graduation, Donna wears a striped jumpsuit and the girls all wear outfits with a matching pattern. You could plan matching outfits like this, or you could all get different jumpsuits in your favourite colours with coordinating patterns! Regardless, you’ll look fun and definitely be a crowd-pleaser, even if you can’t sing like Meryl Streep.
