Lineup for the 2021 Venice Film Festival has been unveiled

The 78th Venice International Film Festival is hopes to out-dazzle Cannes with a 2021 lineup that includes some of the largest studio films as well as highly-anticipated indie and arthouse films.

Denis Villeneuve’s all-star sci-fi epic Dune, Kristen Stewart’s Princess Diana drama Spencer, and Pedro Almodovar’s Madres Paralelas, starring Penelope Cruz, are among the biggest films coming to the Lido this year. On September 1, 2021, the latter will open in Venice.

Jane Campion’s star-studded literary adaptation The Power of the Dog, starring Kirsten Dunst and Benedict Cumberbatch, horror specialist Ana Lily Amirpour’s Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, and actor Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut, The Lost Daughter, starring Oscar winner Olivia Colman, are among the contenders for the 2021 Golden Lion for best film.
