Singer Lady Gaga has been named presenter for the 2022 Oscars. In this first wave, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that not only Lady Gaga will be enlivening this year’s Oscars even though she was not included in the nominations.

 

Zoë Kravitz, Chris Rock, Kevin Costner, Rosie Perez, and Yuh-Jung Youn also enlivened the Oscar 2022 stage.

 

“Movies inspire us, entertain us, and unite us around the world. That’s the exact purpose of this year’s show,” said show producer Will Packer in a statement.

 

“We’re thrilled to welcome the first line of stars to join the Oscars stage to help us celebrate the power of film and honor the year’s best in filmmaking,” continued Will Packer.

 

Gaga’s absence from this year’s Oscar nominations marks a huge surprise. at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and BAFTA Awards. As a film, Lady Gaga’s House of Gucci received only one Oscar nomination, for Best Makeup and Hairdressing.

 

Lady Gaga is the Oscar winner for the song “Shallow” from the film. A Star Is Born in 2018 and was nominated three times, including for Best Actress in the same film.

 

This year’s Best Actress nominees are Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos), and Kristen Stewart (Spencer). Nicole Kidman will be nominated for an Oscar after winning this season’s Golden Globe.

 

Meanwhile, Chastain won the recent SAG Awards race. Gaga celebrated the House of Gucci hair and make-up team Göran Lundström, AnnaCarin Lock, and Frederic Aspirs for their nominations. He congratulated all the nominees on his Instagram last month. “To all of this year’s nominees, congratulations on all your hard work, dedication, nominations, and magic. You all deserve great acknowledgment for the truly beautiful landscape of the show and the achievements of last year,” he wrote.

 

“Your dedication during Covid, your big heart, and your ability to tell amazing stories are gifts to the whole world during difficult times for many. Congratulations my friends. Bravo!” said Lady Gaga.

 

The 94th annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC on Sunday, March 27, at 8 p.m. local time.
