Last month, Kia actually launched the new Sportage, complete with a sharp fresh exterior design, a stylish cabin, and a new 2.5-liter engine option.
Now, we’re back with the same Sportage, but equipped with a hybrid powertrain that gives it a range of up to 500 miles (805 kilometers) on a single charge.
The Kia Sportage Hybrid 2023 offers a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine paired with a 1.5kWh lithium-ion battery and a 44-kilowatt electric motor.
The system’s total output stands at an impressive 226 horsepower (166 kilowatts), a vast improvement over the standard petrol version of just 187hp (138 kW).
Meanwhile, its fuel efficiency was recorded at around 39 miles/gallon (16.6 km/liter).
This setup is complemented by a standard six-speed automatic transmission, with front or all-wheel drive options depending on trim.
The base LX model comes standard with FWD, but also offers Kia’s Active All-Wheel-Drive system – which uses a center locking differential to distribute power evenly – as an option.
The EX and SX-Prestige models, on the other hand, have standard power on all four wheels.
Moving on to the cabin, the new Kia Sportage Hybrid adopts almost all of the same features as the standard petrol model.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen adorns the center console, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offered at no additional cost.
The touchscreen is augmented by a harmonized 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.<
The Sportage Hybrid also offers wireless phone charging and a premium Harman-Kardon audio system.
Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, fixed lane assist with lane centering, high-beam assist, and more.
In total, the Sportage Hybrid 2023 has eight standard active safety features.
Available safety options include things like blind-spot monitoring, navigation-based smart cruise control, and the South Korean brand’s Highway Driving Assist.
Then, Kia also offers a 360-degree camera with a 3D view, which is a first for the Sportage.
The Kia Sportage Hybrid 2023 will join the lineup sometime early next year.
The company hasn’t listed pricing details for the petrol or hybrid models yet, but we hope to get that info before the end of the year.
